The Superheroes Academy
Essential life skills for children
The Superheroes Academy empowers approx. 500 children a year by teaching them fundamental life skills in the form of ‘superpowers.’ Superheroes are used as role models to inspire and engage children in key conversation about child rights, education, and healthcare. When kids participate in Superheroes Academy sessions, they have fun wearing superheroes capes and their self-confidence is boosted by the games and diplomas they are awarded at the end of each session.
Our curriculum of 15 life skills includes:
Child Rights / Child Protection Policy / Safe Migration / Road Safety / Drugs, Alcohol and Tobacco / Discrimination / Domestic Violence / Immunization / HIV Prevention / Puberty and Reproduction / Oral Health / Waste Management / Insect-borne diseases / Handwashing / Nutrition
Scaling up the Superheroes Academy: Digital Life Skills
The Superheroes Academy has proven so successful that it has gone digital! BDF is currently developing and piloting the Digital Superheroes Academy, an educational app that children can access via tablets or from their own low-tech smartphones. This scalable project makes it possible to reach many more vulnerable children throughout Thailand.
